English king Harold and John, tend to stick in the minds of students of Law school in the development of English law

In the legal history class today we’re going to look at the development of statutory and common law within English legal system. We are going to look at  some of the signifcant dates in the English law historical development and what events occurred at thoes times.

I think it’s fair to say that most people ,not just students, have difficulty remembering those days. However. There are some dates that are extremely significant and tend to stick in the minds of students of Law school. Two of these dates are 1066 and 1215.

In 1066, William the Conqueror invaded England from French Normandy and defeated English King Harold at the Battle of Hastings. In 1215, the English King John was forced to sign a historical document known as Magna Carta by poweful lords and barons. I will explain why these days are so important in the development of English law.

在我们今天的法制史中，我们要回顾在英国法律体系中制定法与普通法的演化进程，在英国法制史中我们要回顾一些特别重要的日期，我想我可以公正地说不仅仅是法学院的学生，其实大多数人记住这些日期是特别困难。然而，确有一些日期在英国法制史中尤其重要，以至于法学院的学生须要终生铭记的。其中有两个日期是1066年和1215年。

在1066年，征服者威连母从法国诺漫底入侵英格兰并打败英王哈罗德，1215年，当时的英王约翰被迫在权势极大的领主与贵族草拟好的英国大宪章这一历史性的文件中签字承认其法律效力。后面我会继续解释为何在英国法制史中这两个日期如此重要。
